thanks everyone! I'm glad you seem to like it even though the photos are of such horrid quality >.<'''
Updated first post now, have been delaying it for a while, but everyone and their art should be there now.

And Arghore; thanks, I'll give that a try!
Do mess around with the photo all you like, it'll be fun to see what you'll come up with!

thanks to everyone for the positive responses. makes me less nervous lol

@Qing: i actually really wanted to put a tealight in the bags, but with the cellophane paper i think itd be a bit of a fire hazard lmao. i'm not really sure it'd show up well on cam anyway

@Arghore: i think you're right, i should've added a few of those things. unfortunately, i already sent the pic to my friend for photoshoppage >.< i don't wanna make him start all over, he's really sick and stuff heh. bloody hell, the bat thing is a great idea because of the little rubber bats that hang down from trees and stuff in game. argh lol.

E-COOKIES FOR EVERYBODY AS WHAT FINISHED THEIR ENTRIES! You are all totally awesome.

@Narcissia: Don't worry, it still looks fantastico.

@ravensong: Ooh, that looks even better. And baroque is just so Halloween... *thinks of the Haunted Mansion* Dangit, you made me want to go to Disneyland. EDIT: NOO NOO YOU MUST SUBMIT IT! That's too amazing. Love the overdone baroque picture frame (though I personally would get rid of the GW, it looks a bit out of place)... and the picture of Livia on the table. That is just... wow.

@Tzu: Wow, that's cool. Sorry the picture quality is doesn't do it justice... *wishes she could teleport over and take pictures*

I will be done tonight. I just have to dash over and finish my essay really fast before I can start... and maybe I will try out that new silly-named arena for a little while...

Hey, I had a thought. Ideally, ANet ought to just hand out awards in separate categories (especially if they are being cheapskates on the prizes, they can afford to give more) - costumes, models, decor, drawings/renders. That'd be really cool. Pity they probably will not think of it.

@Tzu: your costume looks amazing, but i'm sure you already knew that lol. if anet takes off "points" for the picture quality, they're stupid and we should go slap em

I'm up for that! Let's hope we don't have to, though.

Ok this one merely for fun, as the photograph inspired me for the edit ... Hopefully Tzu didnt think of this herself, but she did ask for inspiration

Hardest was to match the lighting, and this even has a 50% transparancy black over it, still Tzu pops out, still pretty much makes me giggle this one
Guess there wont be no Mad King this year

hahaha, that's great Arghore! XD

By the way I tried what you said, along with some experimentation of my own, and it does look a bit better now:

Tnx, your expression goes very well with my edit, its totally saying "whut?!? What's your problem? Want to be next?"

Yeah that last one is allot better allready ... if you have time you could experiment with drawing in extra shading, to add some more contrast, seeing your right side (left side of picture is somewhat 'over lighted', add some more shades to your left side (right side of the picture); make a new layer, draw with black, set transparancy at like 20%, and draw shading to what gets shading ... then use the 'fainter/sharper' edit tool to make it blend in with the picture ... bit of warning, you can over do it, but playing around with the transparancy helps a bit, dont like it, just delete the layer ... thats how i put the shading in my pict

Seeing this is a workshop

^Original

^layer1, 40% transparant

^layer2, 45% transparant

^layer3, 50% transparant

Judging from the picture i would say you even used 2 light sources, the general light and a spotlight mostlikely
Perhaps next time just use the Spotlight for drama shading, or the general light & Spotlight via wall, for a more general overall lightning

Original shows your work better though, so like i said, you can over do the shading pretty easy depending on what you are going for ...
but for me, im going to bed :P ... for those on the final touchups, dont forget the deadline time, 12 noon PDT so where ever you are in the world
make sure you take your timedifference into account !!

Hey Tzu:

Wow, that armor looks fantastic!!
Amazing job, so well done. ^_^
I'll try and play around with your picture, see if I can do something nice.
Maybe render a nice background for it if I have time ^_^

Well, there are far too many problems with this picture to name, but here's the final version:

I really should have typed the text, but I really didn't want to mess with textboxes...

@Narcissia: I think you may want to include the 'shopping on the box (so they know what it is) - though I think maybe a touch more glow in the center would do, but that's just me - but the eyes I think are kind of creepy with glow, so maybe not on them.

EDIT: Sorry about the not so good quality, was in kind of a hurry ^_^

i know, the squash serum eyes do look pretty creepy lol. was just trying to keep it close to the item in game.

hmm i really like the smoke effect coming out of the box. i'll harass my friend, see if he can do something more similar to that, but still keep it blue and kinda glowy like the in game icon. ya know? lol

EDIT:
do either of these look less creepy?

Yes, I made it blue, but it's not enough. Like I said, it was a 10 minute job

Added thin smokes coming from the witch's brew and squash serum too. might be a bit too much.

Sorry, gotta go with without photoshop :\ I think the original photo looks pretty cool, but adding glows randomly can make something cool look really gaudy. Altho the smoke looks kind of cool if you can make it really realistic xD. Just my opinion

*starts working on my entry again :|* (Had a paper due)

i agree with you blue. i think too much photoshop is kinda making it tacky. maybe just the smoke on the box (because i really really love how that looks lol) and that's it.

ty for input

I liked this edit the best, added a bit onto it lighting wise. If I could I'd lower the opacity of the smoke coming out of the box though, but it looks good enough as is.

Also, I think that the serum looks better without the glowy eyes.

Everyone's art and projects look great! Sorry I don't have the time to say how awesome you all are individually.
